Chow Chow

History
Chow Chow breed has its true origin in North China and is one of the most impressive and oldest dog breeds in the world. With a nice and royal manners this dog seems to be a cross between bear and lion.
In several ancient documents found in China, dating from the eleventh century BC.Hr.se spoke of a muscular dog with tongue blue, red fur and legs straight.
Some experts believe that this dog existed since the Han dynasty and is the ancestor of the breed Norwegian Elkhound, Pomeranian Samoyed and Keeshond.
Although originally from Northern China, most of Chow Chow dogs were found in southern China, specifically in the Canton region. There, due to blue-black tongue were called "black mouth dog".
Chow Chow became so popular in China that in one kennel were increased simultaneously up to 5000 copies.
At the end of the nineteenth century the first copy of Chow Chow arrived in England.
In 1906 breed is registered in the American Kennel Club.
